Dinner for 101

Dinner for 101 comprises of a rich array of ceramic place settings and centrepieces created by contemporary South African ceramists. This temporary installation is housed in the majestic Lady Anne Barnard Banqueting Hall at the Castle of Good Hope.

This visual feast is a celebration of the creativity of men and women working in clay, exhibiting locally designed wares, and provides visitors with a glimpse into the diverse kinds of ceramics that are being made locally for our tables.

The Lady Anne’s long table with its 101 chairs lends itself perfectly to showcase tableware made by contemporary ceramists. Participating ceramists are mostly working in the Western Cape, but the work of ceramists from Gauteng and the Eastern Cape are also represented.

Dinner for 101’ is a short run installation as part of Fired – an exhibition of South African ceramics, permanently on display in the Granary at the Castle. Fired recently received an award from the Western Cape Government as ‘Best New Museum Project’ for 2012-2013.
