table-talk: 101 ceramics
Table settings for fit for a king – laid with exquisite ceramic pieces designed by local artists. The famous 101-seater table in the Lady Anne Banqueting Hall at the Castle of Good Hope comes alive with an installation of 101 functional ceramics.
Fifty of Cape Town’s foremost contemporary ceramic artists have been invited to ignite the connections as part of Iziko Museums of South Africa’s World Design Capital project #WDC255. Each ceramist have been invited to exhibit two place settings. These signature styles are in line with the themes of Cape Town’s World Design Capital projects in promoting innovative designs in ceramics for the table, and presenting beautiful things in beautiful spaces.
The long table offers an ideal opportunity to showcase 101 contemporary table wares within the historical setting of the Castle, the oldest existing colonial building in South Africa.
The exhibition is a temporary installation presented and organized by the Social History Collections department of Iziko Museums of South Africa between 22 February and 16 March 2014.Back to Exhibitions Calendar
