dOCUMENTA (13) - More than an art exhibition an illustrated tour by Marilyn Martin
Since 1955 the 100 days of Documenta have transformed Kassel, 80% destroyed during WWII, from a traumatised space and place to one that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every five years; we go to discover and assess what contemporary art means at that moment. With her mammoth dOCUMENTA(13) Christov-Bakargiev occupied 30 sites in Kassel and others far, far beyond. This was not only an art exhibition, but a telling reminder that anything can be art and that art can be anything. The interconnectedness of everything – past and present, ancient and new, nature and culture and science – was revealed and art in it widest possible meaning embraced. Join Marlilyn Martin for an illustrated tour of dOCUMENTA (13).
