100 Years Since the First World War (1914–1918):

Voice Recordings of African Prisoners of War – Anette Hoffmann. Public lecture SS12.

Anette Hoffmann is currently working on the recordings of African soldiers interned in camps in Germany during WWI, some of which allow for glimpses of these soldiers’ experiences during the war. The lecture engages with these recordings as historical sources, which speak of German propaganda activities, French conscription campaigns, and experiences in captivity.
